This service sheet was in the papers my mother left me. 1897 was before my Grandmother was born, but it could have been her father, James Cansdale, who attended the service. The service celebrates Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee.
It was used
In all the churches and chapels in England and Wales, and in the town of Berwick-Upon-Tweed
upon
Sunday the Twentieth Day of June 1897
It is interesting to note the special case of Berwick-Upon-Tweed, which brings to mind the probably apocryphal state of war between Berwick-Upon-Tweed and Russia.
It is also interesting that Scotland and Ireland are not mentioned, but Wales is, as this was before the Welsh Church Act of 1914, so Victoria was still head of the Church in Wales.
There are some interesting pieces about the Jubilee at http://www.queen-victorias-scrapbook.org/contents/8.html
